It was a wonderful time of celebration of fifty years of marriage (to the same man!!). The children were all here –gathered from north to south. Friends from many locations joined the fun. I am certainly grateful to all my children and grandchildren for their faithfulness and devotion. God is Good!!
The only flaw in the perfect weekend was the death of one of my Siamese. SugarPlum somehow contacted a bug that destroyed her red blood cells and immune system. She couldn’t fight it.
I am reminded of one of my books that needs a lot of work yet. Here is a short excerpt. The wolf, Mozart, was killed in saving the life of Rachel.
“Aunt Rachel, does God allow wolves in heaven?”
Rachel answered, “Jimmy, I really don’t know. But God created him and used him to help us, so I’m sure there is a special place for him, if not in our heaven, then in a special heaven for faithful animals.”
“Thank you, Aunt Rachel. I was afraid God would forget all about him after he died.”
“God never forgets any of his creation, Jimmy, good or bad. He rejoices when we do right, but he grieves when we do wrong.”
What ever kind of heaven God has for faithful animals, SugarPlum is there.

I’m sorry about SugarPlum, I know she was very dear to you. You know better than anyone that I have never dealt well with the dichotomy of life - the ups and downs, the good with the bad. You’ve always seemed to be somewhat philosophical about such things, or maybe just stoic - me?, I’m just a mess! Regardless, to celebrate while you grieve or grieve while you celebrate - it is so exemplary of what it means to live life - the human condition. Now I’m the philosopher!
Anyways… Congratulations again on your anniversary. I love you!
